Alberto

I am very sad to learn about the death of my friend Alberto. I have known him close to fifty years. He used to visit the LSE when I worked there and we had many dinners and talks. I visited him in Paris and Lausanne, I attended one of his surprise birthday parties in Lausanne, and of course he came to my valedictory address in Tilburg. Alberto was not only a very smart man, but a gentle and cultured soul, someone I was proud to call my friend. I will miss him a lot. There are not many like him.
