Very sorry to hear about Jay's death. I knew him from the VIC Bible Club in Vienna. Wonderful peaceful man. He will be greatly missed.

I met Jay in Vienna in summer 1999 when I was an intern at UNOV. Since then, I've been admiring Jay as my role model, mentor and friend. I still don’t know how to take this sad news… My sincerest condolences to Jay’s family. My thoughts are with you.

It was an honor for me to be able to play for the services today. I knew Jay since his days in Vienna. He was my human resource officer, and was one of the first to welcome me there, as well as the one who saw me off when I moved from Vienna to Geneva in 2002. And of course, here we played chamber music together - it was under his initiative that we performed at the Fete de la Musique for the first time this past summer. I truly have only happy memories of Jay, as both friend, mentor and musician. I am heartbroken and offer my deepest condolences to Jay's family.

When I played with the jazzeur Boreal group, I've had the great pleasure to meet Jay, his kindness and sensitivity as a man and as a musician. Then when I had to leave to Shanghai, Jay told me how his own experience of exile has been rich, and he encouraged me with a great sincerity to try this experience. I will remember how he listened and helped me to decide. Goodbye from China, Jay.

It still has not sunk in that Jay is gone. It was too sudden. He was such a good man - fair, kind, generous of spirit - and an exceptionally competent and supportive UN supervisor. My thoughts go out to Sylvie and family. May she have strength in these difficult days.

I only met Jay a few times as he and the musicians rehearsed at our place. But I can see how the absence of his charisma and cool guitar will be forever missed by the Jazzeur Boréal band. We share the sorrow and send you all our sympathy.

You wore so many hats, Jay, and had so many, many talents. I best remember you as a fair, honest and above all reasonable representative of the staff; I recall with pride and affection the numerous times we stood side by side at staff meetings and the wisdom and support you were always able to provide. You touched many hearts with the VIC Jazz Combo, and I will never, ever be able to hear "Misty" without recalling the numerous occasions on which you sang this, my very favourite song, for me! Each of us will have his or her own memories of you to treasure. You are in my prayers.

Dear Wormus family, I cannot express my sorrow at the loss of your beloved. Aside from being a kind man, I found Jay to be a supervisor who cared for his staff as well as a committed and professional international civil servant. Jay was also a great musician who had the ability to bring just the right tone to his interactions. May the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, comfort you in this time of grief.(2 Cor. 1:3-4). With deepest sympathy. Cloveese
