I was very saddened to hear the news of Stuart Whitehurst and his wife Nadine whom I also remember as a caring nurse at l'Infirmerie at Ecolint. My last memory of Stuart was at the Auberge where he was enjoying an evening at an outside table together with Mr. Hamayed. On this occasion, the Reunion of 1984, Stuart lent me such a sympathetic ear as I spoke to him of my experiences after leaving Ecolint. His response was so strengthening and sympathetic and I gained immensely from the conversation. As a teacher I remember him as frank, professional and from behind a strict facade he nevertheless projected great warmth, humour and a sense of profound human values. He will be missed. Please receive my heartfelt condoleances for a grief I share.

Dear Natalie and Vicky, Neighbours across the floor in that tower block as well as Ecolint. It has been a long, long time since I have seen either of you, but the news via my parents via Eric Anthony still came as tremendous shock. I still find it hard to believe especially in such a beautiful corner of Africa. My strongest memories of both your Mum and Dad through come Ecolint despite living next door – well it was the pair of you that I called not way back then. Your Dad was my Chemistry teacher way back in 9th Grade and our paths were forever crossing in the “Salève”. Your Mum patched me up on at least two occasions that I can remember and pointed me in the direction of the cantonal hospital. I will not quite get back to Geneva in time for the service, but my thoughts and prayers are with both of you and your families.

Nathalie, Vicky, I send my deepest condolences and prayers that you may find strength to cope following such tragedy. Mr. Whitehurst taught me both at Ecolint and at Webster University. I also recall the most wonderful moments at school chatting and drinking tea with Mrs. Whitehurst in the infirmary. Your parents were two of the kindest people and I shall miss them.
